Larissa Ambachtsheer is a visual artist based in The Hague, The Netherlands. Since graduating from the Royal Academy of Arts (KABK) in 2017 and founding her studio that same year, she has been working across photograph, works on paper, ceramics and painting. Her practice explores themes like human behavior, consciousness, mindfulness and sustainability.
She draws inspiration from everyday life. She observes small details and translates them into her own visual language. Her work often looks at how people try to balance and control their lives, especially around food, habits, and daily rituals.
Travel plays a key role in her process. Being immersed in different cultures and traditions allows her to step outside her usual frame of reference. These experiences add new layers to her work through materials, color palettes, and forms.
A turning point in her life opened the door to creating with her hands again. A way to reconnect with herself through making. Her work now lives in the space where opposites meet in balance: soft and structured, intuitive and intentional, digital and handmade.
