Susan Schildkamp

In her drawings and paintings, Susan Schildkamp creates scenes that exist between waking and dreaming. She develops images that she encounters along the way. That along the way can be anywhere and nowhere. She captures landscapes, people, houses and buildings, objects, and—last but not least—atmospheres.
Schildkamp translates the emotional world of human beings in general, and her own in particular. Her guiding principle is always the belief that people have the ability to give even seemingly dramatic events a positive turn. She works on the boundary between reality and illusion.
Over the years, she has developed her own visual language to express what moves her. She has found a technique to make the colours that exist in her imagination perceptible to others—clear, transparent even, but above all, intense.
