Clemens Briels creates colorful artworks with a tendency toward cubism. The artist says, “I enjoy painting with bright colors. I don't really appreciate gloomy paintings. Perhaps it has to do with my extroverted nature.”
According to Briels, every existence has its opposite (antipode). He refers to this belief as his Antipodism. He disregards the constraints of academic perspective, preferring to play with contrasts. Drawing from diverse sources, he skillfully transforms everyday themes into bold yet approachable images, showcasing a vibrant palette often influenced by Latin American art. Briels is not only a painter but also a sculptor who creates sculpture, glassware, carpets and designs furniture. Across the mediums, his hallmark remains his cheerful and optimistic outlook on life.
