Casper Faassen was born in Leidschendam (Holland) in 1975. He grew up in a town called Leiden and at an early age he developed an admiration for the great Dutch Masters.

Technique
Faassen never studied at an art academy, but instead he studied Marketing and Communications. He believes that his work is created with emotion and that is something that can’t be taught. In order to develop his painting skills he moved into a house for artist’s, Tussen de Bogen, in Amsterdam. There he experienced the freedom to develop his own style and enhance his technique. Faassen loves to draw and paint, besides that he also works with photography and lithography.
Style
Faassen experiments with different materials and techniques, but always shows the oldest subject within the Arts: The Woman. The theme decay is not shown in the subject, but in the using of the materials. He developed a recognizable style. The silhouettes of the women are drawn on for example linen fabrics from India, rust plates or handmade paper.
