Brauck (Willem Brauckmann), 1946, stepped into the limelight for years. He started his career in 1963 studying at the Academy for Visual Arts in Rotterdam. A degree that he, that a good artist in the sixties, would not complete.

What he lacked in theoretical trainig, he made up for through years and years of practical experience, in among other things advertising- and exhibition architecture. His illustrations reinforce various years of current affairs in papers and magazines. Brauck's paintings are more than the literal likeness of current events. A painting is the inner experience. With his paintings Brauck shows how he looks at our existence. He attempts to provoke awareness of the duality of society: het constructive side and the destructive side.
