The themes in her work consist of Nature and Culture, Myth and Mystique, Human and Animal.'For me the process of creating my work is like day dreaming, an exploration... exploring the inner self and the unknown... playfully investigating it... to find what you can not think of, but can re-discover through sense and intuition.
Merit was born in 1964 in Amsterdam and has been painting and drawing from a young age, reading and looking at the world full of bewonderment. Merit de Jong graduated from Royal College of Arts The Hague in 1992, in Drawing, painting and Graphic Design.
Now she is pre-dominantly occupied with creating photoshop collages, through which she creates surrealistic, playful, poetic and spiritual worlds.
