Willemien Brand (1967) during her childhood developed an immense drive to create through drawing and painting. In 1990 she graduated cum laude from the Industrial Design Academy in Eindhoven and after 10 years of working in business, she decided to become an autonomous visual artist and designer.

It actually was one order that changed her source of inspiration. She painted a 38 meter long wall at the Burgers Zoo restaurant in Arnhem. There you now can find a enormous, colourful tiger surrounded by dancing monkeys. The theme 'Animals' immediately inspires her. The result: creating art that makes all people smile.
'Cheerful figurative!' defines her work, which now can be found in national and international galleries. Simplistically made animal figures on canvas -often storks- due to their powerful outlines become energetic and cheerful. Colourful layers and experimenting with acrylic and mixed media backgrounds characterizes Willemiens paintings and reinforces the composition.
