The artist freely alternates between painting, ink on paper and engraving wood. At the beginning of the 21st century, Delesalle, as a realistic painter focussed on producing still lives, realistically copying potatoes, bulbs, radishes and all other types of products you can find in your local supermarket. The life of a housewife seems to fascinate him, and one of his favorite subject matters seems to be her grocery list.

The artist has always inspired by wood engravings, a technique he started using himself in 2008. With this complicated ancient technque he creates imagery of vegetables, nails, toys, bicycles and lifesize amges of trains and playmobil figures.

His images have an unreal, intriguing and playful appearance, which hypnotizes the viewer. The technique of wood engraving reinforces this effect and gives them a rare and particular character. The playmobil figure of Delesalle almost seems human.
