Edouard Buzon was born at Clamart (France) in 1979. He lives and works in Montreuil (France).
At the age of 32, Edouard is an emerging artist. His works show a certain form of the current urban aesthetics. He plays on the opposition between the raw universe of architectural forms that he photographs and the smooth icy varnish with which he finishes his works.
His unique lacquer technique, the striking contrast between the black and white photos of industrial landscapes and the appealing colors make his paintings very desirable pieces. Buzon uses a technique of coloured blocks on a wooden frame consisting layers of polyurethane varnish to which he adds pigments and photographs. At the end each artwork is carefully polished.
Buzon testifies, through his artworks, a certain form of today’s urban aesthetics. The creation process spreads over several months, this is the time required to provide each painting a certain form of history, by painting, writing, erasing and covering...
When he adds characters, these are more like silhouettes of absent presences which are located in light sources. If his photos evoke the negative of a colour photograph, that might be a game of illusion, of metamorphosis.
