The artworks are called “photo-graff’s” as that it is the best description of the works, a mix of techniques: photographs treated with acrylic paint covered with epoxy coating.
The “photo-graff’s” * are created as a result of Chantal's love for Italy. Since she was a little girl, she stayed in Italy each and every holiday. Her memories of the atmosphere of cities and small villages in Italy are numerous.
Chantal got the idea to catch “photographed memories” on squares and streets in a “photo-graff” a few years ago when she found some old photographs (made many years ago) which ended up in a box in the attic. She found it a pitty that these memories ended up in a box.
Photographing the atmosphere of a city is the basis of my artwork. she is inspired by the movement of people on the squares and streets, whereby the moment is of great importance. Every scene takes only a second and after a minute the square is completely different...everyone goes his or her own way. However, everyone has a heart which connects the people being on the square at that precise moment. But the different colours makes them diverse.
She would say that: the photographs of the squares is a symbol for the reality (life) and the people with their hearts give colour (love) to life.
