Her etches and paintings repeatedly reveal to us the inexhaustible wonder that is life. Above all she has the ability to surprise. She is an artist who constantly succeeds in discovering fascinating aspects in apparently inconspicious subjects and conveying these aspects to us. She is an artist who hones her own world, as seen through the eyes of her generation into visually poetic messages, in which she herself remains recognisable but with no pretension to individualism, no deliberate attempt at modernism or what moght pass as originality. Her own originality is rooted in the purity of origin, from which everything arises, often apparently with a minimum of artistic presentation but with a maximum of subtlety and eloquence. Her work has intimations of a new romanticism: the expression of a generation that refuses to be alienated from its own dreams by the commercial dictatorship of what others consider to be modern, stylish and 'flavour of the month'. Laetitia de Haas transforms the daily life into a thing of amazement, revealed in a completely new light.
