Puck Soetens (1970) lives and works in The Hague. In 2014 she completed her education at the Photo Academy in Rotterdam. Since then she has been working as an independent portrait photographer
Since 2020, Puck has focused on photographing flowers. Inspired by the paintings of Jan Mankes, she has come to her own interpretation of 'the flower still life'. She prefers to call her photos portraits rather than still lifes. After all, flowers do not live still.
The photos are sleek and apparently simple, they have a picturesque character, in which Puck is looking for harmony and stillness in an atmospheric contemporary realism.
The flowers and vases are all real and in her studio she is always looking for the right combination of the two.
