Ever since his time at the academy he has been drawing in two styles: figurative and abstract. His figurative style he developed through by drawing and painting portraits and nude studies. The abstract works originated from still lives. He abstracted these still lives, repeated and distorted it until a facinating image of lines and a strong compositional whole is created. At first these compositions colors were restrained, although afterwards this color started playing an important role. His later oilpaints became a proportioned entity made up of visual excitement, color intensity, design, and abstraction.

In the nineties a combination of the two styles was created. More and more figurative elements now can be found in the abstract paintings. The woman, a recurring subject matter in model studies, start playing a big role. He still starts off abstract, but now starts from the abstract perspective for the model. This way he tries to give the abstraction from the natural a bigger chance. This is way he works without a model, this stimulates a more personal design. His work has a specific and extraordinary signature.
