Patricia van de Camp

In her solo work, Patricia van de Camp investigates the spatial implications of monochrome areas of color.
These areas of color have their origins in the abstraction of feminine forms, but can also break away from it. The monochrome color areas are often in blacks and grays, but occasionally they are made in a pink shade.
This color is not only a clear reference to what is socially seen as the color for femininity, but also to what she herself calls “candy”. Pink can be soft or hard, but it always has the association of sweet.
By hanging the color areas at a distance from the wall and from each other, a unique shadow effect is created in every lighting situation in the room.
In this way, spatiality is created that is larger than the surfaces themselves and will always provide new insights.
Patricia's graphic background can be seen in the often rigorous abstraction. The spaciousness comes from her thinking and working as an artist.

Patricia van de Camp studied graphic Art and photography at the Rietveld academie in Amsterdam and the Design School SDU Kolding in Denmark.
