A speech can be powerful. It can inspire and empower people. Words can invite you to be kind and generous. Things said to you, especially when you are young, shape you for life. The way of communicating with each other, telling stories and reading poetry enrich your world. But the other side of this ‘communication coin’ is unpleasant and shocking. Powerful and famous people are increasingly changing our world, they control, devide and indoctrinate and there is no escape; ‘Influencers’ degrade the veracity of information. We live in a world where words, spoken and written, are spat out over us like verbal vomit via social media like X and TikTok. Lies spoken by populist leaders break through, their words in the name of freedom stir up fear and hatred and put freedom of speech under pressure. Words matter! And saying certain things can have unforeseen consequences. The expression “Be careful what you wish for” is not for nothing a famous adage…
The Box2024 contains 6 different works of art that you can keep in the Box itself, but you can also hang them separately on the wall. All works are inspired by important themes of the past year. Together, the works read like a concise annual overview.
The box2024 measures approximately 54 x 40 cm and the works are printed on specially selected handmade paper. Separately numbered and signed.
