This year at Art The Hague, we proudly present Soo Burnell's latest series, "The Plesman Collection," a photographic homage to The Hague.
A Scottish photographer, Soo Burnell is celebrated for imbuing her work with a cinematic, even theatrical, quality. Nostalgia permeates her photographs, often heightened by her deliberate choices in wardrobe and styling. Her artistic vision draws inspiration from various sources, including art, cinema, and architecture, with notable influences such as Wes Anderson, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, and Stanley Kubrick. This distinctive aesthetic is evident throughout both "The Plesman Collection" and her broader portfolio.

It's a celebration of exploration and the unexpected encounters we experience during our travels – encounters with places, architecture, and the hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Soo invites us on a photographic journey through The Hague, from the renowned Kunstmuseum designed by Hendrik Berlage to the serene morning ambiance of the Zwembad het Zuiderpark swimming pool. We pause to await tram No. 36, ready to transport us from the bustling city center to the tranquil shores of Scheveningen beach, crowned by the Skyview Pier and its majestic Ferris wheel. Each image evokes the feeling of a scene plucked from a film.
