Technique
In all of Davids artworks the construction is clearly visible. At the scales, one can clearly see that they consist of several pieces of wood and that those are connected by staples. The technique that Davids uses, lies in between painting and design. He uses a form we know of from the craft, but he paints his artwork in the way a painting is being created.
Scales
The wooden bowls have a diameter of 66 centimetres and Davids produced them in a large number. The size is the same for each object, but because of the variation in colours, composition and the type of wood, all scales are unique. The scales hang on the wall like a painting. They come towards the viewer physically and therefore embrace the viewer which makes it so impressive.
